Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I need?
How many sessions you’ll need depends on your goals and what you’re able to practice between sessions. I offer extra support in between sessions if you want it.
For fearful dogs, it takes time to build trust and confidence. I know we make progress going at the dog’s pace. I believe in celebrating your wins along the way.
I cannot ethically promise results. I can relate to the stress of not knowing how long it may take or how much progress is possible. I do promise to honor your goals and the resources you invest in training.
What methods do you use?
I am a force-free trainer, which means I use things dogs enjoy, like food or toys.
I never use fear or pain. I never use tools like shock collars, prong collars, or choke collars.
As a child, dog trainers taught me to use fear and pain with our dog, Hobbes. Later in Hobbes’ life I switched to positive reinforcement training: using kindness and cookies. The switch to force-free transformed our relationship. If you have used fear and pain with your dog, and you are ready to go force-free, I am here for you.
Please feel free during our sessions to ask me about the methods I propose.
Do you offer discounts?
I'm deeply passionate about helping clients with foster dogs and dogs adopted from a rescue or shelter. Please mention in our Discovery Call and I just may have a gift for you ;)
